Education Leadership
Barry Aprison is Education and Outreach Director for the Institute for Genomics and Systems Biology (IGSB) at the University of Chicago. He is also Senior Lecturer in the Biological Sciences Collegiate Division of the College. Barry is developing academic programs on campus through the auspices of the Chicago Systems Biology Center (CCSB) and the Ph.D. program in Genetics, Genomics, and Systems Biology (GGSB).
Barry’s work includes K–16 curriculum development, graduate student recruitment, faculty career training, and interactive exhibit design development. He specializes in the creative translation of complex, abstract science topics into engaging, fun, and memorable learning experiences.
Alliances are being formed with educators, schools, and science museums to offer student enrichment courses, hands-on learning modules (i.e., interactives, elegant experiments, and engineering challenges), and teacher training programs in the biological and physical sciences.
