Systems Biology Synthesis

Computational models of complex processes linked to qualitative and quantitative changes help scientists discern predictive properties and behaviors of complex biological systems. Hypothesis testing based on these forecasts assists investigators in characterizing and analyzing how and why genetic networks are “designed” the way they are. Some of these components are part of modular physiological feedback loops and homeostasis mechanisms that robustly react to subtle perturbations and biological cues in the environment. The nature of robustness is an active area of investigation in the CCSB.
