Education and Outreach
Student & Faculty Programs
CCSB produces research, training, and educational offerings available for undergraduates, graduate students, post-doctoral fellows, and faculty.
Activities include:
- a summer REU (Research Experiences for Undergraduates) program
- Post-Baccalaureate Research Education Program (PREP)
- Genetics, Genomics, & Systems Biology (GGSB) graduate training
- IGSB/CBC Fellows Program
- a junior/senior faculty career development program
The Institute for Genomics & Systems Biology (IGSB), the Chicago Center for Systems Biology (CCSB), and other partners are working together to create these offerings, including new courses.
IGSB is working closely with the University of Chicago’s Department of Computer Sciences’ Computer Science Professional Program to offer Masters degree students practicum rotations in systems biology laboratories. Under the guidance of a faculty mentor, each student designs, performs, and analyzes his or her own bioinformatics-related research project. They address issues at the intersection of biology and computational science.
