Graduate Training

The Committee on Genetics, Genomics & Systems Biology is an interdisciplinary Ph.D. granting program at the University of Chicago. It brings together more than eighty biologists, some of whom are associated with the IGSB. The Ph.D. training program combines a foundation in modern genetic analysis with training in methods for formulating and addressing biological questions in the context of complex systems. They are studied in physiological, developmental, and evolutionary timescales in model organisms.

A Predoctoral Fellowship Program in Systems Biology promotes graduate research in transcriptional network dynamics. It links diverse research groups together. Graduate students who have matriculated at the University of Chicago and are in their first or second year are eligible for nomination by any trainer.

Office of Graduate Affairs, The University of Chicago

The Office of Graduate Affairs provides funds for summer research internships for minority students who intend to pursue Ph.D. studies in basic science research as part of the Graduate Summer Program. The Office also participates and coordinates activities with the Summer Research Opportunities Program (SROP), which has science slots and is managed by the Dean of Students in the College.
