Teacher Programs
CCSB, in collaboration with the IGSB and the Field Museum, offers a high school teacher professional development (PD) course in the summer:
Teaching Systems Biology & Genetics Through Inquiry.
Each summer, high school teachers participate in systems biology related training activities linked to ISBE standards. This is a collaborative project between the Center and the Field Museum’s Education Department and Pritzker Lab. Participating teachers who finish the PD course gain graduate credit and Continuing Professional Development Units (CPDUs). There is a $1,000 stipend for course attendance. In addition, teachers get a 1-year membership to the Field Museum and its Harris Educational Loan Center. Resource packs with books and materials, along with CTA passes or parking vouchers are provided. There is breakfast and lunch on course days.
